A BIT ABOUT ME
Teaching is my passion, and it brings me joy to be able to share this passion with my students. I've been lucky to have teachers who have inspired me, and it is my goal to do the same for you or your child.
My fundamental purpose is to enrich yours and your child's lives in all areas through music education and arts’ appreciation.
I believe in creating a nurturing and positive educational environment, producing highly-educated musicians with strong skills that carry over into all aspects of life. I offer personal, one-on-one lessons in the convenience and comfort of your home. My goal for each lesson is to help you unlock your full potential by providing the technical guidance and musical inspiration you need to succeed.
I believe a good teacher should:
See each student as an individual, providing instruction specific to their needs,
goals, learning style, and personality.
Provide constructive criticism with a positive attitude.
Instruct a student how to listen effectively, allowing them to become
their own teacher while practicing at home.
Teach not only what to do, but how and why.
Spark a desire to practice and inspire a student to be creative.
I teach students with a wide array of educational levels.
Please feel free to call or email me so we can set up an initial evaluation session at your convenience.
Born and raised in Connecticut, I began my musical studies on violin and piano at the age of 4. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in string performance, studying with Yuri Mazurkevich and Leonid Sigal. I then went on to complete my Master’s degree in 2014 and Certificate in Performance in 2016 at DePaul University where I studied with Ilya Kaler.
I began teaching privately after being invited to work with the Boston Youth Symphony's Intensive Community Program. This program provides free instruction to underrepresented communities. This was my first experience teaching and I loved it! I continued to work with the program for two years, helping students who needed some extra time with their instruments or training in music reading and theory. I have been teaching private lessons ever since.
I have received training from both the Hartt School of Music and DePaul Community Division in the Suzuki teaching method. I've had two wonderful summers as a teacher and camp counselor at Belvoir Terrace, a performing arts summer program. I've enjoyed coached at the ArtsAhimsa Chamber Music Festival in Lenox, MA for five summers as well as numerous other chamber music festivals.
I have been taking lessons with Ashlyn for about 7 months now and she has truly been the best violin teacher I could have hoped for! She is not only good at teaching and helping me improve my playing, but she is also a really nice person and we get along very well. I look forward to every lesson and always learn a lot and have fun.

We are very happy with Ms. Ashlyn. She has a great manner with my 8 year old, who looks forward to her violin classes and wants to practice for her teacher :)

Ashlyn is my violin teacher, she is amazing!!! She has been my teacher for about 3 months. She is very good at what she does, patient, great communication, reliable and extremely talented. I was reluctant to take a class at my age, I was scared that my teacher would not be patient with me, however I 'm so glad I did. When I met Ashlyn she made it easier for me to continue and not give up my dream of learning how to play the violin!!
